The Genesis Animal Ambassadors
Little Bird is our Green-Cheeked Conure. This species of conure is native to South America where they can be found living in the tree tops in flocks around 30 individuals.
Meet Owlex the Eurasian Eagle Owl (bubo bubo). Eurasian Eagle Owls are the largest species of owl in the world! These birds are native to Europe, Asia, and northern Africa.
Seamus is our Red-Fronted Macaw (Ara rubrogenys). the Red-fronted Macaw is an Endangered species from a small region in the Andean valleys of south-central Bolivia. The species is threatened by the destruction of its dry forests, poaching to supply the illegal pet trade, and persecution by local farmers because they eat crops (maize and peanuts).
Carly is our beautiful Eyelash Crested Gecko. Crested Geckos were discovered in 1866 but, were later thought to be extinct until 1994 when they were rediscovered in New Caledonia.
Willow is one of our Ring Necked Doves. This particular bird is albino. Albinism is a mutation where an organism does not have melanin pigment.
Short Stack is one of our four Bearded Dragons. Bearded Dragons are a diurnal species that are endemic to Australia. In the wild these lizards feed on vegetation including fruit and leaves, as well as any invertebrates and small vertebrates.
Boone is our Pueblan Milksnake. This species is crepuscular which means they are most active at dusk and dawn and they are endemic to Mexico.
Porky is our Western Hognose (Heterodon nasicus). Western Hognoses are nicknamed the puff adder due to the loud hissing sound they make when they feel threatened. If this hissing does not scare away the predator the hognose snake will flip over on its back and play dead.

Lucky the Blue & Gold Macaw
Lucky was an extremely abused parrot. His previous owners taped his beak shut and threw him out. He is missing half of a foot and has severe arthritis in his wings. When Lucky first arrived at Genesis in 2018 he was terrified of humans and rightfully so. If you walked into the room he would run to the back of his cage and panic trying to get away. It took over six months of working with him every day to get him to calm down when I was in the room with him. Today Lucky loves attention and is a healthy, happy member of the Genesis flock.
The Amazon Parrots
Cisco
This beautiful double yellow-headed amazon is 36 years old. Cisco has switched homes at least 5 times before ending up at Genesis. She has since become one of our main ambassador animals.
Daisy
Daisy is a double yellow-headed amazon. She came to Genesis in 2020 because she was being very aggressive towards her owners. Daisy absolutely hates women, if my wife Sara walks in the the Bird House this bird will climb off her cage and attack Sara.
Willie
Willie is a Red-Crowned Amazon that came to us from an elderly lady that could no longer care for him. Luckily he was surrendered to us before he was neglected.
Carlos came to genesis in 2018 and soon after laid eggs, so…. we renamed her Carly. Carly is an eyelash crested gecko. They were thought to be extinct until the 1990s when they were rediscovered in New Caledonia. Crested Geckos feed mainly on fruit and insects.
